Who we are
Foundation
Nestled in the heart of Tamworth, Denison Street Early Learning Centre is a small, private, family-owned centre dedicated to giving children the very best start in life. We provide high-quality care and engaging educational programs for children aged six weeks to six years, nurturing every stage of early development.
Our philosophy is shaped by the shared values, passion, and experience of our dedicated educators. As proud members of the Tamworth community, we are family-focused and embrace an open-door approach, warmly welcoming families and community connections into our centre.
Centre Philosophy
At Denison Street Early Learning Centre, we offer high quality care and educational programs for children from 6 weeks of age through to six years of age. Our philosophy reflects the individual and group dynamics of our team of educators and our Centre’s shared values and beliefs.
-
Care, dignity, and respect
Care, dignity, and respect are given to every child and their family, in relation to their uniqueness and individuality, their learning styles, individual growth, family diversity, and cultural and linguistic backgrounds. -
Provision of an enjoyable and challenging child centered learning environment
Where children are encouraged to learn through play so that they will enjoy learning throughout their life.
-
Child time, space and the opportunity
Allowing each child time, space and the opportunity to develop at a pace that is comfortable to themselves and their environment, as well as providing multiple opportunities to interact and experience a meaningful and secure environment, that encourages growth, risk taking of new ideas, and enhances the child’s existing knowledge. -
Families and Educators are valued and display respect for each other
Working in a collaborative partnership to provide the best learning experiences for each child in an enriched early learning environment, allowing for development to flourish. - Early childhood development
Early childhood development focuses upon the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, language/literacy, numeracy and aesthetic development of the individual child. Following individual and group learning interests and providing opportunities for further development. -
We value feedback
Families, Educators, volunteers and the wider community play an essential role in providing equitable care in our Service. We value feedback from our Families, Educators, and the wider community.
Denison Street
Early Learning Centre
Inspiring Young Minds Since 2002
Denison Street Early Learning Centre has been providing exceptional early childhood education and care since 2002. What began as a small service supporting 38 children has grown alongside our community. Responding to local need, we expanded to 58 places and, in 2026, proudly opened a brand-new, purpose-built Transition to School room for 4–5 year olds — now welcoming up to 78 children from Tamworth and surrounding areas.
As a privately owned, family-operated centre, our history is grounded in strong community connections, family values, and a deep commitment to quality early learning. We believe childhood is a time to be nurtured, respected, and celebrated.
Our philosophy of care recognises every child as capable, curious, and unique. We are guided by a child-centred, play-based approach to early childhood education, where learning happens through meaningful experiences, exploration, and positive relationships. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to support individual strengths, developmental needs, and emerging interests — from personalised nursery routines through to our enriching preschool and Transition to School program.
Our educators are proud members of the Tamworth community and are passionate about creating a warm, welcoming environment built on trust and collaboration. With an open-door policy, we value strong partnerships with families and believe that learning thrives when home and centre work together.
At Denison Street, children are given the time, space, and encouragement to explore new ideas, build resilience, develop confidence, and grow socially and emotionally within a secure and inspiring environment. We foster independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning — ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and ready for their next chapter.
